Our Story
Portraits and a few words, engraved into granite, one family at a time.
Heavens Memories began with a single granite tile. A family we knew had lost their father and wanted something more lasting than a framed photograph and more personal than a headstone chosen from a catalogue. We engraved his portrait and a line from his favourite hymn into a piece of polished black granite, and it has sat on their mantel ever since.
That is still what we do. Every memorial we make starts with a photograph and a few words from the people who loved someone, and ends with a piece of stone that will outlast all of us.
Why granite
Jet black granite is the finest surface there is for an engraved photograph. The polished face takes an image with soft, lifelike tone, and the engraving cannot fade, peel or wash away. It is the same stone used for full-size monuments, and it is at home indoors or out.
How we work
Each piece is engraved to order in our studio. We send a proof by email before we begin so you can see exactly how the photograph, the name and the words will sit on the stone. Only when you are happy do we engrave.
